What is the basis for processing your data?
Our basis for processing your personal data is legitimate interest. The Engineering Council is the regulatory body for the engineering profession and publishes the Standard that describes how professional registration can be achieved through the demonstration of competence and commitment and what processes are in place to facilitate this. The Standard is subject to periodic review and inviting stakeholders to contribute is an essential part of the review.
Special or sensitive data
The Engineering Council does not collect or process special categories of personal data or sensitive data such as race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, etc.
Data Security and Sharing
All data held by the Engineering Council is held securely. Your personal data will be passed to dotmailer Ltd for processing on behalf of the Engineering Council.
Retention
The Engineering Council will store your personal data until it has completed the Standards Review or until 31 March 2020, whichever is earlier.

A Subject Access Request form and copy of the procedure can be requested by writing to the Engineering Council’s Data Protection Representative at the address given below.
