Professional Affiliates

Professional Affiliates are engineering institutions closely associated with, but not licensed by, the Engineering Council. They are influential and work to further the knowledge and understanding of a particular area or aspect of engineering and technology.

Information for potential members

The value of membership of a Professional Affiliate is similar to that of a professional engineering institution.  The difference is that Professional Affiliates are not licensed to assess candidates for professional registration.  However, many of them are able to offer their members the opportunity to become professionally registered, through an agreement with a licensed institution

For more information on any of the Professional Affiliates please contact them direct.

Information for eligible organisations

The value of Affiliation, for which you pay an annual fee, includes the opportunity to offer professional registration for your members through an agreement with an existing licensed institution.  Access to information becomes available for staff and members, through our Extranet, networks and annual seminars.  You also have the opportunity to contribute to industry developments.  Several Professional Affiliates have progressed to licensed institution status.

Affiliation recognises the contribution your organisation makes in its fields of expertise.  It also provides the opportunity to see how your procedures and standards for membership are aligned with the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).

More details on becoming a Professional Affiliate are available on request.
