The Engineering Council is pleased to announce the approval of two new Professional Affiliates, the Geological Society (GSL) and the Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN).

The Professional Affiliate status of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) has also been renewed, following a review. ICorr has an agreement in place with a licensed engineering institution, the Society of Environmental Engineers (SEE), enabling its members to be assessed for professional registration through the Engineering Council.

Professional Affiliates are a group of institutions closely associated with, but not licensed by, the Engineering Council. They are influential and work to further the knowledge and understanding of a particular area or aspect of engineering and technology.

Engineering Council CEO Alasdair Coates said “The Engineering Council’s vision is to maintain society’s confidence and trust in the engineering profession. We achieve this through working with partners across the professional engineering community and are pleased to see the Geological Society and the Royal Institute of Navigation achieving those standards expected of a Professional Affiliate”.
