Higher apprenticeships working group
Published: 15/12/2017
In light of the outcomes from the higher apprenticeship workshop in May, a newly formed working group has since been set up to seek answers to questions that were raised.
The first higher apprenticeship working group meeting took place on 5 October, chaired by Dr Malcolm Booth, Head of Power Engineering and Director of the Foundation Degree Centre, Aston University.
During the meeting, terms of reference were agreed and a number of opportunities and challenges were discussed. The group identified the apprenticeship levy as an important driver for degree apprenticeships, for progression and upskilling of the workforce, but also spoke about challenges that could be faced. Members of the working group also reviewed and suggested enhancements to the Engineering Council’s processes and documentation to support the recognition of higher apprenticeships.
Please contact our Education and Skills Manager, Catherine Elliot at celliot@engc.org.uk for more information on the working group.
