As part of the accreditation process professional engineering institutions ask for information on the number of teaching staff who are professionally registered with the Engineering Council, and may seek evidence that a Department is actively encouraging teaching staff to register. The Higher Education Academic (HEA) in consultation with the Engineering Council has developed a downloadable brochure for higher education staff who are interested in professional recognition as both engineers and educators. The brochure presents examples of activities that might demonstrate some of the competence and commitment required for Chartered Engineer (CEng) registration, as well as giving examples of evidence and experience to support applications for HEA Fellowship (FHEA).
