Engineering Council successfully transitions to ISO 9001:2015

Published: 03/09/2018

The ISO 9000 group of standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customers' requirements, and that quality is consistently improved.

The Engineering Council’s quality management system is certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has recently transitioned to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. The ISO 9000 group of standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements, and that quality is consistently improved.

A transition visit took place with an assessor from Lloyd’s Register in July, during which all new and enhanced requirements of the Standard were reviewed. Management’s commitment to the process throughout the assessment was noted and staff from across the organisation were involved in preparation for the visit.

The ISO 9001:2015 standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. The final report noted that the Engineering Council “has established process controls which allow improvement opportunities to be determined and progressed commensurate with risk and opportunity”.
