Engineering Council Chief Executive Officer Jon Prichard travelled to Kuala Lumpur in March to give presentations at a workshop organised by the British High Commission in Malaysia, in partnership with the Institution of Engineers Malaysia. He spoke about the current state of the UK Engineering Sector, the Engineering Council Registration System and also provided an introduction to Eurocodes, which are a suite of design standards used in the construction industry. Also in March, Katy Turff, Head of International at the Engineering Council, attended the World Summit on Accreditation in New Delhi and took part in an interactive seminar. In April, she gave a keynote speech on Innovation and Diversity in Engineering Education at the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) Symposium in Beijing.
In April, Deborah Seddon, Head of Policy and Standards, travelled to Florida to deliver a keynote presentation to the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) annual conference about best practice accreditation, as exemplified by the UK engineering profession. Also in April, Jon Prichard delivered presentations at the Association of Project Management (APM) and the Institute of Explosives Engineers (IExpE) annual conferences, explaining the role that professional bodies play in delivering world class performance.
