Women’s Engineering Society promotes professional registration

Published: 06/03/2019

The Engineering Council has worked with the Woman’s Engineering Society (WES) to add extra information on Engineering Council registration to their website, in response to member queries. WES members can find full details on the benefits of professional registration and how to achieve registration in the members area of the website.

The Engineering Council works to ensure that no barriers exist to anyone appropriately qualified becoming professionally registered and would encourage all practising engineers and technicians to consider the benefits of professional registration for their career.

Every year the WES awards the Karen Burt Memorial Award to a newly Chartered female engineer who has displayed excellence and potential in the engineering profession, as well working to promote the engineering profession. It aims to encourage more women to aim for Chartered status and to highlight the importance of this achievement. Nominations are made by Professional Engineering Institutions (PEIs) and close on 30 June.

2019 is the centenary year of WES and there are events and celebrations throughout the year; more details are available on the WES Centenary webpage.
