'Recruiting and Engaging with Students' workshop held
Published: 07/06/2018
Over 25 PEI staff attended our ‘ Recruiting and Engaging Students’ workshop in May, with a range of large and small institutions represented.
Staff from the institutions came together to share best practice in engaging with students and with universities, and what strategies are effective in supporting students’ transition from members to registrants.
Student membership of professional engineering institutions is often free and many institutions offer a “graduate” membership category. Incentives such as a discount or period of free membership to encourage student members to continue being part of their institution after the graduate and start work.
All the institutions represented expressed a desire to increase their engagement with students and early career engineers, offering support and advice in progressing their careers and taking the first step towards registration.
Positive feedback was received on the session, with 100% of attendees agreeing or strongly agreeing that the workshop was effective.
The outputs report from the workshop is available now and you can see dates for the rest of the year in our workshop programme. If you don’t yet have a Partner Portal login, please request a new account.
